Western Pennsylvania Chapter of IAWM

Dear Sisters in Ministry,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to our website, and invite you to participate in any and all events you find listed in the events page or calendar.

We are a group of ordained women ministers from many denominations who gather to support one another spiritually, personally, and professionally in our varied ministries throughout the Western Pennsylvania region.

We are beginning a new program year September 15th and October 20th with a discussion of There’s a Woman in the Pulpit , a book by Martha Spong, 10:30am at Community Presbyterian Church in Ben Avon.

Last year we held a “Pre-Advent Pamper” and it was such a big hit that we are offering this again November 17th at Massage Envy and Command Performance followed by lunch at Emiliano’s; all at the Richland Mall, Route 8 in Gibsonia.

December 8 is our annual “Advent Tea”. This year we will be hosted at Smithfield United Church of Christ, 620 Smithfield Street in Pittsburgh by Rev. Dr. Susan Cherian and Rev. Dr. Rebecca Cole-Turner. We look forward to taking a tour of this beautiful and historic church.

January 26-27 is our Winter Retreat at Crestfield Camp and Conference Center in Slippery Rock, Pa. Leadership for this retreat is Rev. Rachael Hackenberg, Minister for Committee on Ministry Resources and Conference Support, United Church of Christ, Cleveland, Ohio. [Details].

February 16 we will be meeting with students at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, N. Highland Ave. in Pittsburgh.

March 16 we will take a field trip to New Guild in Braddock for a studio tour. This event will be hosted by Ruth Becker.

April 20 we will meet at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary to meet with female members of the faculty.

May 18 is our Annual Meeting, Awards, and Luncheon that closes out our program year. We will meet at Community Presbyterian Church in Ben Avon. More details to follow.

I have been a member of this wonderful group since 1992, and I really count myself blessed to have had loving professional and personal support throughout the ministry to which God has called me. I wish for you that same unique companionship for your ministry. So please consider coming to one of our gatherings to check us out.
